At Boyce Music Studio, we help piano students grow through solid technique and foundational skills while encouraging creativity, confidence, and musical self-expression.
Whether you’re just beginning or returning to the piano after years away, we’ll help you build the skills and confidence to make music you love — all in a supportive, encouraging environment.
We utilize the Piano Adventure series by Faber and Faber as our core curriculum. These lesson books build a solid foundation of skills in an easy to understand and accessible way that keeps students engaged.
From there, we use a combination of supplemental books to build skills as well as learn a variety of musical styles! Pop/theatre, classical, and chord reading are all included in our curriculum.

- Confident sight-reading and rhythm skills
- Expressive musical phrasing and dynamics
- Music theory foundations that support creativity and improvisation
- Chord reading and musical structure

Lessons
Private music lessons are designed uniquely for each student.
Whether you want to sing or play "just for fun" or you are currently an advanced performer, we are here to help you reach your musical goals.
Styles include contemporary, musical theatre, pop/rock, jazz, and classical literature if desired.
Sight-singing and music theory will be incorporated.
We also offer lessons in songwriting and basic composition!

Meet Your Music Instructors
NINA BOYCE - VOICE, PIANO, MUSICAL THEATRE
Nina Boyce is a vocalist, choir director, and the founder of Boyce Music Studio in Concord Township, Ohio. She holds a degree in Music Education from Otterbein University and spent seven years teaching middle school choir for Olentangy Local Schools in Columbus, Ohio. During her time there, Nina taught and directed over 500 students across two school buildings, led an award-winning competitive show choir, and created meaningful performance opportunities for her singers—including taking a group of middle school students to perform in New York City and at Carnegie Hall.
After relocating to the Cleveland area to be closer to family, Nina founded Boyce Music Studio in October 2023. What began as a small private piano and voice studio has since grown into a thriving community of over 60 students, offering instruction in voice, piano, guitar, and drums.
In addition to her work at the studio, Nina is the director of Lake Youth Chorus, a community choir serving students across Lake and Geauga counties. She is also an active performer in the area, regularly sharing her love of music both on stage and in the classroom.
Nina is a mom of two amazing girls and enjoys spending time with her family and husband, Cody, who is also a local musician and guitar and drum instructor at the studio.

With over 20 years of private teaching experience in voice and piano, my mission is to ensure you have an enjoyable time exploring the world of music.
Whether you’re passionate about voice, piano, ukulele, classical, jazz, pop, or belting out show tunes, I’ve got you covered.
If you're captivated by Disney tunes or curious about music theory, or if you’re simply looking to choose a favorite genre, I’ll offer a diverse range of styles to sample.
I’ll tailor-make lesson plans that align with your strengths and passions, whether you’re seeking casual lessons for fun or looking to take your musical journey to the next level.
All ages and experience levels are welcome!
Carolyn holds a B.A. in Music Performance from Baldwin University and a Masters of Music in Performance from the Peabody Institute. She is skilled in taking all levels (beginners to advanced) in both voice and piano.
LAUREN MCNANY - PIANO AND VOICE
Lauren McNany, LPMT, MT-BC is a board certified and licensed music therapist with over 10 years of experience working with people of all ages and abilities. Her first love is the piano, but she plays multiple instruments and has been singing ever since she could talk.
Lauren has had a wide-ranging musical career that includes private practice music therapy, K-12 music education, private lessons, and church musicianship. She currently works full time at University Hospital's Geauga Medical Center as a music therapist, providing support to patients on an inpatient and outpatient basis through Seidman Cancer Center.
She is extremely passionate about fostering a love of music in her students and making music accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Lauren holds a Bachelor of Music degree with a concentration in piano from Grove City College, a Bachelor of Arts in Music Therapy from Slippery Rock University, and holds national certification and state licensure in Ohio for music therapy.
MEKAILA PEARL - VOICE AND PIANO
Currently, MeKaila plays violin in 2 orchestras in the Cleveland area and works full time as a music therapist with a large hospital system. She supports people with varying mental health needs who are actively in crisis. MeKaila believes that all people deserve access to music and seeks creative ways to make this dream a reality!
MeKaila Pearl Holly holds a B.M. in Music Therapy from Appalachian State University in North Carolina.
CHUTING HUNG - VOICE AND PIANO
Chuting Huang is from Hunan Province, China, and earned her bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from Nanjing University of the Arts. In May 2025, she completed her master’s degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music and is currently pursuing a Graduate Diploma at CIM, studying with Dina Kuznetsova.
Chuting has received awards in multiple China-Korea International Vocal Competitions and the Hong Kong International Vocal Competition, and she reached the semifinals of the Nightingale Opera Competition. During her time at CIM, she has appeared in numerous opera productions and scenes programs, including the principal role of Laoula in L’étoile.
She began her musical journey in sixth grade and quickly developed a deep love for expressing emotion and storytelling through singing. Chuting has several years of voice teaching experience and enjoys sharing music with students who see it not only as an art form, but also as a source of joy, relaxation, and connection in everyday life.
